Republik Telo, Lawang, Malang

              ( The Republic of Cassava, Lawang , Malang, East Java, Indonesia )

Cassava or sweet-potato or T E L O in our local language, is very popular food especially for people in Java . Today if you visit " Republik Telo " in Lawang, about 20km from Malang in the direction of Surabaya, you will find thousand faces of cassava. Cassava-Juice, Cassava-Donut, Cassava-Cracker, Cassava-Cakes, Cassava-Cokies etc etc. And of course there are several iconical-cassava : " cassava-bakpia " and " cassava-bakpao " ( ups .. sound similar but they are different ! ).

For your dietary-programm, this corner seems to be the right spot. Just have cassava- bread and cassava-juice for your lunch instead of your nasi-goreng or steak, ok ?

And for your beloved one at home, even thousand miles away from you, a small package of cassava-cracker or bakpia-telo will be the warmest " souvenir " you ever bring for them !

From Malang with meat - ball ... !!

You don't have much time to try several typically cuisine in Malang ? Then just try to find Jalan Danau Sentani Raya, Sawojajar, Malang which is only about 10 minutes from railway - station Malang. 

Here you can save your time by searching your favourite food or beverage  in one area . Many local popular food can be found easily along the street , from east to west cuisine.

Most of the  houses here had modified the house's terrace and create a comfortable spot for hanging-out with friends or family. Some local food such as : Rujak-Cingur, Rawon, Pecel, Nasi Goreng, Bakmi-Goreng, Sate,Ayam Goreng Lalapan, Ayam Bakar, Ayam Penyet, Bebek Goreng, etc are offered in reasonable prices.

Malang is also very popular for its BAKSO or meat-ball . There are chicken-bakso, fish-bakso, cheese-bakso, etc. In one of the cafe ( " warung " ) in this street. 

Just find " Bakso Eky ", you can even enjoy bakso-bakar or grilled-bakso with its peanut-sauce on it .. ! The sensation of its aroma and appearance and of course the taste will take you into unforgetable experience of having local culinary for lunch or dinner ! So, hurry-up.... !

PECEL KAWI, since 1975.

Say that you've been in Malang . But don't say it if you never been in Warung Pecel Kawi, Malang. PECEL is one of the popular local food which is very popular in Java, especially East Java. 

Pecel is a combination between vegetables and peanut-sauce. Of course if you like you can have hot peanut-sauce. This warung was opened since 1975. Weekends or holidays is always " fully booked " and hardly to find a place to sit. 

Beside Pecel, you can have also some other popular cuisine such as chicken-curry , rawon or black-soup etc . Last but not least they offer also a famous drink so called S.T.M.J stand for

Susu Telur Madu Jahe ( Milk, Egg, Honey and Ginger ) which is good for your stamina.

Warung Cowek PAWON SOLO.

For you who never been in Solo, Center Java, this restaurant in Jalan Soekarno-Hatta  can be your little adventure to taste Solonese culinary. An air conditioned room will soon welcome you on your hotdays of lunchtime.

Here you will have several very typical Solonese menus such as  Gudeg, Tengkleng, Tongseng or Nasi Liwet etc with reasonable prices. Besides, they have also a little souvenir shop where you can buy Solonese - merchandise like batik etc.
